Kumbhalgarh

Famous for its gigantic walled fortress, Kumbhalgarh town is yet another pride of Rajasthan. Kumbhalgarh Fort is a Mewar fortress on the westerly range of Aravalli Hills, in the Rajsamand district near Udaipur of Rajasthan state in western India. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site included in Hill Forts of Rajasthan. Built during the course of the 15th century by Rana Kumbha, Kumbhalgarh Fort is the second most important fort of Rajasthan and is a truly magnificent sight. The charming location of the fort at the foothills of pebbly Aravalli hills increases the overall appeal of the place. The wall of Kumbhalgarh Fort is the second-longest continuous wall in the world, after the Great Wall of China. The fort is among the largest fort complexes in the world, and the second-largest fort in India after Chittorgarh Fort.

Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary encompasses the historic Kumbhalgarh Fort and is also named after the fort. At the foot of the Aravalli, covering a total surface area of 578 sq km, the area is blessed with interesting terrain and other natural elements. Other than sustaining rich flora and fauna, the area also sustains a magnificent history made to come alive with monuments flattering the tourists around the city.
