Region - South India is bounded by the Arabian Sea, the Indian Ocean, and the Bay of Bengal. The region is diverse, encompassing two mountain ranges, the Western and Eastern Ghats. South India consists of five states, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala, as well as the union territories of Lakshadweep and Puducherry.

Overview - This part of India has enormous beaches, waterfalls, forests, lakes, backwaters, wildlife sanctuaries, etc. The famous cities in this region are Hyderabad and its twin city Secunderabad, Mysore, Bangalore (Bengaluru), Kochi (Cochin), Trivandrum (Thiruvananthapuram), Chennai (Madras), Kanyakumari (Nagercoil), Madurai, Mysore, etc. Some of the famous hill stations in this region are Kodaikanal, Ooty (Ootacamund), Coorg (Kodagu), Wayanad, and Munnar. It is rich in history, studded with mystical temples, and has beautiful beaches, exotic culture, and spectacular food. South India is another world.

Food - The southern states make great use of spices, fish, and coconuts, as most of them have coastal kitchens. In the foods of Tamil Nadu use of tamarind is frequently made in order to impart sourness to the dishes. It simply distinguishes Tamil Food from other cuisines. 

In Kerala, some of the delicious dishes are lamb stew and Malabar fried prawns, idlisdosas, fish molie, and rice puttu. Another famous item of this region is sweetened coconut milk. Yet another dish is Puttu, which is glutinous rice powder steamed like a pudding in a bamboo shoot.
