Mahabalipuram also known as Mamallapuram is a temple town situated along the shores of the Bay of Bengal. Mahabalipuram is an elegant place to visit, it was a well established sea port during the 7th and 10th centuries of the Pallava dynasty. During the rules of Pallava great poets, dramatists, artists, artisans, scholars and saints emerged.
This location is among the most outstanding examples of Dravidian art and architecture. Mahabalipuram is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The structures here are mostly carved straight out of granite and are among the oldest existing examples of Dravidian (South Indian) architecture. Mahabalipuram is a place of great architecture, caves and stone work with white sandy beaches.
