Jaisalmer

Jaisalmer is named after Maharaja Jaisal Singh, a Rajput king who founded the city in 1156.

Jaisalmer showcasing the royal heritage and culture lies in the heart of the great Indian Thar Desert; it was an oasis in the old camel trade routes.

The town is also referred as “Golden City” as it stands on a ridge of yellowish sandstone. Jaisalmer is famous for its glorious heritage, historical monuments, the majestic fort and centuries old Hawelis with art carven work of stone scattered all over the city, boasting of its royal grandeur.
