Kovalam

Kovalam is a beach town by the Arabian Sea; it is located around 16 km from Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala state.

Kovalam is blessed with few of the most pristine sea beaches in India, which are frequently visited all year long. It has been a popular tourist destination for the foreigners, since the 1930s. The place came into limelight in the early seventies with the arrival of masses of hippies, which turn this sleepy fishing village into one of the major tourist destination.

The low tidal waves and the shallow waters stretching for hundreds of meters are ideal for swimming; these beaches hosts plenty of other tourist activities also like boat-riding, sunbathing, massages and numerous cultural programs to watch.

Kovalam is adding a new significance to its name by the opening of several Ayurvedic salons, which provide a wide range of Ayurvedic treatments for tourists.
