Mysore is the third-largest city in the state of Karnataka, which served as the capital city of the Princely Kingdom of Mysore for nearly six centuries. From 1399 until 1947 The Kingdom of Mysore was ruled by the Wodeyar dynasty. The Wodeyars were known to be promoters of art and culture, during their reign Mysore emerged as one of the important centers of art and culture in India.

The famous Mysore Palace (also known as the Amba Vilas Palace) is one of most visited historical monuments of India. The palace is also the venue for the famous Dasara festival, thousands of tourists gather here during the festival season to watch the grand palace illuminated by thousands of lights.
