Humpi

Hampi is a village in northern Karnataka state, India. It is located within the ruins of Vijayanagara, the former capital of the Karnataka Empire. The place is dotted with a large number of monuments belonging to the old city. The ruins are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, listed as the Group of Monuments at Hampi

Hampi is purely worth the visit. This place is simply charismatic even in its ruins; thousands of tourists are attracted here to explore millions of monuments surrounding the area. Hampi is a great place to spend a few days around many religious places and discovering the rich, vibrant history.

The beautiful landscape has a little oasis with lush greenery and fruit trees like palm, banana, and mango trees nestled near the river Tungabhadra River.

 

Hampi hosts the famous Hampi Utsav (Festival) every year, since more than 500 years. It is a visual delight as all the monuments/ruins are lit at night and it is a cultural extravaganza of dance and music.
