Vaishno Devi Temple is a holy pilgrimage destination for the Hindus. Vaishno Devi shrine is devoted to Maha Kali, Maha Laxmi and Maha Saraswati; the three Hindu goddesses. It is one of the most visited pilgrimage destinations in the country. Vaishno Devi is located at a height of 5300 feet on the holy Trikuta Hills of the Shivalik Hill Range. Vaishno Devi Temple can be reached after making a steep 13-km trek from Katra in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, India.
The entire 13 km route is quite wide and tiled. Shelter cum cafeterias are setup throughout the route. Pure vegetarian food is available at these outlets. Drinking water has been made available all along the route, with water coolers and storage facilities. Public utilities with automatic flushing systems along the track and at the Bhawan have been facilitated.
The Town Katra is 50 Kms away from Jammu. One of the most preferred routes to reach Vaishno Devi is through the helicopters. The shrine board has made it easier for the devotees to undertake the Helicopter Darshan for Vaishno Devi. The visit to the holy shrine within the folds of Trikuta Mountain, via helicopter is just a start of this ecstatic and thrilling journey.
